Future Prophecies
Gen 49:1 Joseph wants to tell his sons the future (H319 – ‘aḥărîṯ). From the beginning of Genesis with Adam & Eve, we have prophecies for the future. We even have books in our Bible dedicated to the prophets and their prophecies. This just clearly shows that YHVH doesn’t want to keep us in the dark, but He does want us to be prepared.
The tribes fit/work together
All the original 12 sons’ names are given/repeated, with a quick description of WHO they are. Who they are – is also a prophecy of what is to come.
For Ephraim and Menassah, even though they are not mentioned, going forward when speaking about Joseph – it will actually include these two generations, and they will each get their own land as well (2 sons combine Joseph as 1).
The tribe of Levi will be taken care of by all the tribes together.
Families in afterlife
Gen 49:33 “And when Yacoḇ ended commanding his sons, he drew his feet up into the bed and breathed his last, and was gathered to his people.”
We’ve seen before where Jacob wants to be with his people in Sheol (Gen 37:35). We will see this more later in the Bible as well. Today people are so dispersed and scattered, a lot of people do not have families or do not know who their parents were. Some do not want to be part of their families who are just evil. It will be so nice to see how YHVH places us after this life on earth, with families – because I’m sure no one will be left alone. Everyone fits in somewhere, and is grafted into some part of the tribes.
