Sabbath
In Leviticus 23, we have a repetition verse (2 and 4) and a highlighted verse ( 3).
2“Speak to the children of Yisra’3l, and say to them, ‘The appointed times of YHWH, which you are to proclaim as set-apart gatherings, My appointed times, are these:
3‘Six days work is done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of rest, a set-apart gathering. You do no work, it is a Sabbath to YHWH in all your dwellings.
4‘These are the appointed times of YHWH, set-apart gatherings which you are to proclaim at their appointed times.
He just quickly highlights and REMINDS the people again.. Remember to keep the Sabbath.
Did you know – English is one of the rare languages that doesn’t use the word Sabbath for the 7th day? As a matter of fact, Saturday means “Saturns’ day” and the rest of the weekdays references Roman and German gods like Tiw (Tuesday god of war), Oden (Wednesday), Thor (Thursday), Frigg (Friday god of fertility), “Sun” and “Moon” day. But, most other languages around the world have kept the word Sabbath for the 7th day! SOMEHOW these other nations have learned that the 7th day is a rest day (most probably since the days after the flood). Use Google Translate and see for yourself
Spanish: Sabado
Italian: Sabato
Russian: Subbota
Armenian: Shabat
Latin: Sabbatum
Croatian: Subota
Slovak: Sobota
7 Appointments per Year
All around the world, when you mention “Feast of Tabernacles” – people think “O… that is a Jewish feast”. When you mention “Passover”, they think “O.. that is a Jewish and Christian feast”. Let us recap the following:
JEWS FEASTS today include:
A minimum of 16 holidays/feasts (there are a lot more that they keep) : 9 (Major Holidays) + 7 (Minor Observances and Lesser Holidays)
There 8 Major Days are : Weekly Shabbat, Rosh Hashanah (2 days), Yom Kippur (1 day fasting), Sukkot (1 Week), Passover (1 Week), Shavuot (count 50 days, 1 Day), Hanukkah (Lights, 8 Days), Purim (1 Day)
CHRISTIAN FEASTS (non Catholic) today include:
Christmas (1 Day), Passover (3 Days), Pentecost (1 Day)
CATHOLICS FEASTS today include:
Christmas (1 Day), Eastertide (Easter Sunday to Pentecost Sunday, 50 days), Ascension Day (40 days after Easter), Pentecost, Epiphany (wise men visit, 6 January), Good Friday (crucifixion on Friday), Lent (40 days fasting before Easter), Ash Wednesday (beginning of Lent), Palm Sunday (Sunday before Easter), St.Patricks Day (patron saint of Ireland), Maunday Thursday (day before good Friday), Advent (season in prepare for christmas), All Saints day, All souls’ day
AND THEN WE GET THE SCRIPTURE – YHWHs APPOINTED TIMES (Lev 23:2 “The appointed times of YHWH“, Lev 23:4 “These are the appointed times of YHWH“)
Leviticus 23 explains them all:
7 APPOINTED TIMES (Mo’edim) / 7 HIGH SABBATHS (days during the Mo’edim not allowed to work) / 3 FESTIVALS/FEASTS (pilgrimage feasts)
1) Pesach (1 day in the evening only)
2) FEAST (1st festival) of Unleavened bread (7 days to eat unleavened bread – day 1 and day 7 is HIGH SABBATHS)
3) DAY of WAVE OFFERING
4) 7 days x 7 weeks = 49 days counting after Unleavened bread, the 50th day is FEAST of Harvest (HIGH SABBATH)
5) DAY of TRUMPET (HIGH SABBATH)
6) DAY of ATONEMENT (HIGH SABBATH)
7) FEAST of TABERNACLE/BOOTHS (7 days, day 1 and the 8th day is HIGH SABBATHS)
From the above we can see the following, when comparing Scripture with Religions today:
– Pesach, can be called Passover, but not called Easter! It is held in one evening, not 3 to 50 days.
– The Jews have Rosh Hashanah (new year) around the time of Day of Trumpets to Feast of Tabernacles. This is incorrect, the Scripture says the new year is in Aviv (Spring time, which is before Pesach/Passover)
– All other feasts from the religions are not mentioned in Scripture, so they are not from YHWH
– The feasts/days/festivals mentioned in Scripture belong to YHWH – It is HIS DAYS.. they are not “ooo… Jewish or Christian”.
