Tribe Dan Missing, Judas
Revelation 7:4-8 “And I heard the number of those who were sealed. One hundred and forty-four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel were sealed: …”
Back in Jeremiah 8 we posted about the “Judgement of Dan” (click here to read more), and how only a few prophets mentioned Dan, but Ezekiel specifically mentioned Dan being in the New Jerusalem. Between Ezekiel and Revelation, Dan just went completely missing. We looked at the meaning of Dan, and it has to do with “Judgement“, from the Hebrew word Dan H1835 – dān, which is also what Daniels’ name means: El Judges. At the end of the day, that is what the book of Revelation points to, the final Judgement.
Revelation 21 describes the New Jerusalem, with the 12 gates and on them are the names of the 12 tribes, verse 12 “Also she had a great and high wall with twelve gates, and twelve angels at the gates, and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel”. But also, the city have 12 foundations, verse 14 “Now the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb”
Now – isn’t it interesting that initially there were 12 tribes, and 1 was replaced. Also with the 12 apostles, and Judas was replaced. Judas is the Greek version of the Hebrew name Judah (Yehudah), which means “praise” or “thankful”. Judas was replaced by Matthias, and his hebrew name is Mattityahu, which means “gift of Yahweh”, where Matat means gift. The tribe Dan was replaced by Manasseh, where Nasha means “forget”, so YHWH caused to forget. Earlier in this same chapter 21, we read that all the bad memories and pain will be forgotten, ““And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.””
Seals on Foreheads, YHWH's Mark vs. the Beast's Mark
Revelation 7:3 “Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees till we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads“. Later in Revelation 9:4 we read, “They were commanded not to harm the grass of the earth, or any green thing, or any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads.”
Back in Daniel 12 we posted about the Seal of YHWH, as opposed to the Mark of the Beast. Everybody is so concerned with what could the mark of the beast be, but because the old testament gets ignored, when we suddenly read about the Mark of YHWH in Revelation, it is just a forgotten statement. Click here to read more from our post in Daniel 12 about YHWH’s Mark.
Every person at the end of the day WILL have one or the other Mark! It comes down to, if we do what YHWH asks in Deuteronomy 6, we are marked on our head and hands with the Seal of YHWH. If we don’t follow His Commands, then we are vulnerable to having the mark of the beast. See our post later in Revelation 13, where we will discuss the issue of “Buy and Sell”.
In Deuteronomy 5 YHWH gives the 10 commandments, and in chapter 6:8 He says, “You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.” These 10 commandments include the 4th Law of the Sabbath. In Exodus 13 verse 9 and 16, two other commands are given, to keep the Festival of YHWH (there are 7 Days given to celebrate each year, click here to read more), as well as the Law of the firstborn – He says, “It shall be as a sign to you on your hand and as a memorial between your eyes, that YHWH’s law may be in your mouth“

If one wants to recognize or identify something that is a fraud (like money, items or even people), you need to know what authentic and the original is like. We MUST study and spend as much time as possible with the original, the Elohim of Creation, and what His Laws and Marks/Seals are about, in order to identify the fraud. The same principle counts for prophets, we can only identify false prophets, if we study the word of YHWH, His Laws and what is important to Him – how else will we know Truth from Lies? You can only identify a counterfeit product, if you know what the genuine version looks like.
Unfortunately there is no middle way. Revelation 3:15-16 says, “.. you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm — neither hot nor cold — I am about to spit you out of my mouth”. Matthew 12:30 / Luke 11:23: “Whoever is not with Me is against Me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters”
White Robes
Revelation 7:9 “After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes“
We read that John asks in verse 13, “Who are these arrayed in white robes, and where did they come from?” and the answer in verse 14-17, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.”
So we read in Revelation 7 about the 12 tribes, the 144 000, and then the great multitude, those who came out of the great Tribulation. There was no rapture to save people from a tribulation, all have to go through the tribulation. Earlier with the 7 churches, we read in Revelation 3:5 “He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments“. He told them what to do, they have to repent. Repentance, like Baptism is the form of washing, or cleansing yourself. New clothes is the form of starting clean, the dirty clothes are thrown out. But Repentance isn’t just about “saying sorry”, true repentance is about making a u-turn – changing the way we think and the things we do. Not holding on to our ideas and teachings that we grew up with, but re-learning Scripture and then walking the path of what Scripture commands. Click here for previous posts on Repentance.
