The word: HalleluYah!
Exodus 15:2 “Yah is my strength and song, and He has become my deliverance/salvation (H3444 – yᵊšûʿâ – Yeshua). He is my Ěl, and I praise Him“
In the Hebrew – this is the first time the shortened form of YHVH is used – Yah H3050 – yâ.
Some translations use the word Praise – which in hebrew is Hallel (H1984 – hālal).
So if you put those together – that is where the word HalleluYah comes from!
David uses this a lot – so we will see in my Psalms the two hebrew word, or the one english word HalleluYah.
The name YAH is also used in my names, like : Elijah is actually Eli-Yah (meaning Yah is my Elohim); Joshua is actually Yehoshua (Yah is salvation); Zechariah (remembrance of Yah); Micah (who is like Yah); Obadiah (servant of Yah); etc.
MANNA
Exo 16:31 “And the house of Yisra’ĕl called its name Manna. And it was like white coriander seed, and the taste of it was like thin cakes made with honey.”
The hebrew word is H4478 – mān. The online concordance only shows the Arabaic version for some reason – which means in Arabic “what is this?”. Well.. maybe the Arabians didn’t know what it was 🤭 But in Hebrew we do have some translations for Manna:
- “menath” – refers to a portion or share that is allotted to someone, so meaning from or part of.
- man – as in man/adam
- mān – mizo – caught. Manna did fell from heaven afterall.
- The Hebrew word for “matzah” is maṣṣā (מַצָּה), which means “unleavened bread”. The word “manna” is a reference to a food that fell from heaven and sustained the Israelites.
How to keep the SABBATH
Exodus 16:23 “Tomorrow is a rest, a Sabbath set-apart to YHVH “
This is the first place in the Scripture where the word SABBATH (sabaton H7677 – šabāṯôn) is used, which means to observe the day of rest.
The word SET-APART in Hebrew is Qodesh H6944 – qōḏeš, which also means sacred/dedicate/separate
Genesis 2:3 “And Elohim blessed the seventh day and set it apart, because on it He rested from all His work”
He blessed the day, is the Hebrew word BARAK H1288 – bāraḵ, which we have talked about in previous daily reading.
The word seven(th) is SABI H7637 – šᵊḇîʿî.
He set it apart, the Hebrew word is QADASH H6942 – qāḏaš, same for the root woord Qodesh as above.
And He rested from all His work, where the Hebrew word for rest is SABAT H7673 – šāḇaṯ, which means to cease, rest, observe, celebrate
The rest of verse 23 In Exodus 16 says “That which you bake, bake; and that which you cook, cook. And lay up for yourselves all that is left over, to keep it until morning.’” So PREPARE and Work all you have to do before the morning of Shabbat.
In verse 29 it says “Let each one stay in his place, do not let anyone go out of his place on the seventh day”. YHVH added this, don’t go to the places where you are tempted to work. The important thing is not to WORK, that which counts as work for you – but REST. Enjoy the rest & blessing of Shabbat.
MASSA - Testing YHVH
Exodus 17:7 “And he called the name of the place Massah and Meriḇah, because of the ‘strife’ of the children of Yisra’ĕl, and because they ‘tried’ YHVH, saying, “Is YHVH in our midst or not?””
Massah H4532 – massâ – to test
Meriḇah H4809 – mᵊrîḇâ – strife or content with
One moment the hebrews trust and believe YHVH and Moses, and then they don’t. Then they do again, and then they don’t. YHVH help us to not be like that.. yes difficult times will come, and yes we are tested – but we should not test YHVHs’ patience and forgot who He is!
IMPORTANT SCRIPTURES / PROPHECIES:
| Exo 16:5,23,29 Sabbath And it shall be on the sixth day that they shall prepare what they bring in, and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily. YHVH provides enough during the week, and on the 6th day to prepare to rest on the 7th day Sabbath. |
