Anointed, Ordained and Set Apart
Exodus 28:41 “And you shall put them on Aharon your brother and on his sons with him, and shall anoint them, and shall ordain them, and shall set them apart, and they shall serve as priests to Me.”
The priests were:
- ANOINT (MASAH H4886 – māšaḥ. Same root word for Messiah – which means : our “Anointed One”)
- ORDAIN (MALA H4390 – mālā’. The word means to fill his hand, abundance!)
- SET APART / CONSECRATE (QODESH H6942 – qāḏaš. This is the same word used in Genesis 2:3, where YHVH have set apart the 7th day)
The word “ordained” in Hebrew really has a different meaning to what we understand it. It means “filled up” The same word is used here:
Exodus 29:22-23 “And you shall take the .. ram of ordination.. And you shall put all these in the hands of Aharon and in the hands of his sons, and you shall wave them – a wave offering before יהוה.” And again in verse 27. In Hebrew it is known as the “ram of the filling”
Linen
Exodus 28:39,42 “And you shall weave the long shirt of fine linen, and shall make the turban of fine linen”, “And make linen trousers for them, to cover their nakedness, reaching from the waist to the thighs”
Linen is the most sought after material, and is mentioned a few times through out Scripture. Even the Tabernacles curtains are to be on “finely spun” linen. In Ezekiel 16 we see where YHVH talks about the adulterous wife, that when He took her in, He clothes her with leather sandals, fine linen and covered with silk.
Even in Revelations 19:8,14 we see “For the fine linen represents the righteous acts of the saints.” and “The armies that were in heaven followed him on white horses, wearing pure white linen“
Linen is a textile made from the fibers of the flax plant. Linen is commonly referred to as, “The healing fabric,” or the “preferred fabric” for a healthy lifestyle today. It is not easy to come by, as most of our clothes today are made of all kinds of other mixed fabrics, but good quality linen is scarce and very expensive.
Linen clothing is scientifically proven to naturally flights against different types of bacteria and fungi, and Flax is found to be a very effective barrier to some diseases. Linen is stronger than cotton. It’s actually one of the few fabrics that is stronger when it’s wet, rather than when it’s dry. Since the fibers in the material don’t stretch, it is far more resistant to any sort of damage or breakdown in the wear. Linen clothing does last longer, as well as all the other amazing properties it has.
