Adult Age
Exodus 30:14 “Everyone passing over to be registered, from twenty years old and above“.
According to YHVH a person is only counted as an adult from 20 years old. In today’s society we usually use 18, even 16 or 13 in some cases. But it is interesting to note how many people really find YHVH around their 20’s. That does seem to be the age when a person comes to understanding and seeking YHVH.
In Numbers 1:3-18 “from twenty years old and upward, whoever is able to go out to war in Israel, you and Aaron shall number them by their armies.” – men only after 20 are allowed to go to war, as they are most likely to die, and therefor hopefully have already made a decision to serve YHVH with all their heart.
In Leviticus 27:3 we also see if you want to make a special vow for a person or your child towards YHVH, He states what to give for what age. And again we see adulthood is between 20 and 60 years old.
Oil
In Exodus 30 it says about this special OIL and Incense:
33‘Whoever compounds any like it, or whoever puts any of it on a stranger, shall be cut off from his people.’ ”
37“And the incense which you make, do not make any for yourselves, according to its composition, it is set-apart to you for YHVH”
So we get more or less the composition and the ingredients for this specific oil – and are warned NOT TO MAKE IT FOR OURSELVES. We can still use oil and make other oil compositions – just never this one. See the following beautiful verses about oil:
- Psalm 23:5 ” You have anointed my head with oil; My cup runs over.”
- Psalm 45:7 “Elohim, has anointed You With the oil of gladness”
- Ecclesiastes 7:1 “A good name is better than precious oil, and the day of death than the day of one’s birth.” (- THIS IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN PRECIOUS OIL..)
- Ecclesiastes 9:8 “Let your garments be white at all times, and let your head lack no oil.”
Oil represents being SET APART. That is why the 5 virgins who had oil, were counted as wise, because they were set apart. It is not something you can share with anybody – only you can prepare yourself and live a certain way that is set apart.
Oil looks like gold. It’s greasiness protects from harm, it has healing components, it is used in food and for light! Prov 6:23 “For the command is a lamp, And the Torah a light, And reproofs of discipline a way of life”. If Torah is the Light, you need oil to keep that light burning – by being set apart.
Sabbath
Exodus 31:17 “Between Me and the children of Yisrael it is a sign forever”
The Hebrew word forever is OLAM H5769 – ʿôlām – and means not just going forward forever, but from forever from the beginning. It means ancient since creation. That is why, almost every time Sabbath is mentioned – YHVH reminds us why… it is because that is how He created the world – the heavens and earth. So everything forever as long as the world lasts will be under the Law of the Sabbath.
The word sign in Hebrew is OTH H226 – ‘ôṯ – which means a Remembrance, a distinguishing mark, a Banner, Proof, a Warning.
Golden Calf
Exodus 32 is about the famous golden calf story. Did you know that we will read again about a golden calf later… in 1 Kings 12:26-30 where King Jeroboam Builds TWO Golden Calves! I remember thinking since a child hearing this story.. How on earth could they do something like this! It is so easy to see the sawdust in others’ eyes right.. but not the plank in your own. We don’t realize today how we make the same mistakes.
What these people did, is that they didn’t worship a false god, they wanted to worship YHVH – but it was done in a false way. Exodus 32:5 “And Aharon saw and built an altar before it. And Aharon called out and said, “Tomorrow is a festival to YHVH”. So they made something that THEY thought they did from the goodness of their heart – and use this to serve YHVH. They did it FOR HIM! So you might think, you are doing something for Him – your own festival, your own created things.. for Him. Today people have taken occulting festivals and made it into a festival for God. But YHVH does not want other festivals or things! He showed us what He wants and when He wants it. He said if we agree to HIS commands, He will take care of us. See what YHVH says in Exo 32:7 “for the people have corrupted themselves” ! By doing things your way, you are doing your will, and you are corrupting yourself.
Moses was gone on the mountain for a bit too long .. and the people wanted something physical to serve YHVH – even though He was right there all along. Yeshua have risen 2000 years ago.. do we not see the same thing today? People create their own celebrations and things to serve YHVH, even though nowhere in Scripture He ever commanded us to do those things.
Forgiveness & The Book
Exodus 32:32 “And now, if You would forgive their sin, but if not, please blot me out of Your book which You have written.”
The Hebrew word for forgive is NASA H5375 – nāśā’ – which actually means to obtain, take, carry, bear. Moses wants to bear the peoples’ sins – however in verse 33 “And יהוה said to Mosheh, “Whoever has sinned against Me, I blot him out of My book.” YHVH still asks that each person have to take responsibility and punishment for their actions.
The word sin comes from the Hebrew word HATA H2398 – ḥāṭā’ – which means to miss the way, go wrong, incur guilt, forfeit, lose oneself, wander from the way.
There are several times a Book is mentioned in Scripture, especially in Revelations – the Book of Life. How beautiful is this verse in Malachi 3:16 – “Then shall those who fear YHVH speak to one another, and YHVH listen and hear, and a book of remembrance be written before Him, of those who fear YHVH, and those who think upon His Name.”

| Exo 30:23-33 Set apart / Anointing Oil Levites in Tabernacle – Anointing oil is made of spices, myrrh, cinnamon, cane, cassia and olive oil. No one is allowed to make it, and not allowed to be poured on the flesh of man! |
| Exo 31:13-17 Sabbath Guard and Keep the Sabbath – by all means! It is a SIGN between YHVH and you – from ancient times till forever/never-ending. This is how people will know that YHVH have set you apart. Anyone who profanes it or works on it will die. It is a command since creation. |
