Study Gem : Horeb
Exo 3:1 “And he led the flock to the back of the wilderness, and came to Ḥorĕḇ, the mountain of Elohim.“
So the name Horeb means desert / dry place / glowing with heat. It seems that not just literally, but also spiritually – THAT is always the place where we find our Elohim YHVH – when we are in desert places! Many prophets, even David, John the Baptist and yes even Yeshua went to the desert to spend time with YHVH.
And then in verse 12 YHVH said, “Because I am with you. And this is to you the sign that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Mitsrayim (Egypt), you are to serve Elohim on this mountain.”
Note that HOREB is the same mountain as SINIA – where Israel came together and received the 10 commandments and laws.
Study Gem : Shema
Exodus 3:7 And YHVH said, “I have indeed seen the oppression of My people who are in Mitsrayim (Egypt), and have heard their cry”. The word for heard is SHEMA H8085 – šāmaʿ. We will see many times forward in Scripture where we/the people need to SHEMA. And Shema is not just hear – but hearken, understand AND obey!
Study Gem : YHVHs' Name
Exodus 3:14-15 YHVHs’ NAME
And Elohim said to Mosheh, “I am that which I am.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Yisra’ĕl, ‘I am has sent me to you.’ ” And Elohim said further to Mosheh, “Thus you are to say to the children of Yisra’ĕl, ‘יהוה (H3068 – Yᵊhōvâ) Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Aḇraham, the Elohim of Yitsḥaq, and the Elohim of Ya‛aqoḇ, has sent me to you. This is My Name forever, and this is My remembrance to all generations.’
YHVH gives 3 things to identify Him forever : 1) I AM 2) YHVH Elohim 3) Ancestor Covenant

I AM – H1961 – hāyâ – verb in continuous action.. HE IS / HE EXISTED / HE CAME.. and HE WILL CONTINUE TO BE

‘יהוה (H3068 – Yᵊhōvâ)
YE-HO-VA (YHVH)
- HAYA (sounding like YE) : He was;
- HOVEH (sounding like HOVeH) : He is ;
- YIHIEYH (sounding like YAH) : He will be
**please-note** MOST bible translations capitalize “I AM”, so many people are confused and think that is His Name.. and then the translators left out His Name from the original which is ‘יהוה – and they rather say “LORD God”. So if your Bible has “LORD” – please know that is where YHVHs’ name have been left out. In the original scripts it shows His Name, and not LORD God.

In Genesis 39-40 we mentioned the word ZAKAR H2143 – zēḵer. In Ex 3:15 YHVH says His Name is forever and a Memorial (zakar) – To remember, think, bring to remembrance, record, mention.
