Open my eyes, that I might behold the marvellous beauty from Your Instructions ~ Psalm 119:18

Tamar

Then Judah said to his daughter-in-law Tamar, “Live as a widow in your father’s house until my son Shelah grows up”; for he thought, “I am afraid lest he also die like his brothers.” So Tamar went and lived in her father’s house.
Genesis 38:11

This is the story of Judah & Tamar.  Let us start with the end, who is Tamar?  She is one, the first, of the 5 women mentioned in Yeshuas’ geneology!  And at the end of the day – Judah admits.. She is more rigtheous than he.  Judah have been unfair to her.  She was was suppose to have a son, because Messiah was going to come from her line.  But her 1st husband was so evil, that YHVH had to remove him.  The 2nd son had a duty to fulfill, but instead he was selfish and only used her for pleasure, but left her childless. So YHVH had to remove him too!  And Judah blames her, he doesn’t own up to his son’s faults.  And then, Judah takes her for a prostitute.  And guess what he offers as payment.. a goat.  Does that ring any bells?

So picture this – where it is so easy for people to judge and condemn others.  And here she stands up – and asks a question that must have sent shivers down Judahs’ spine.. and not because of what he did to her, but what he did to his own brother!  Remember he still thinks Joseph is gone into slavery and his dad is mourning.  He probably couldn’t face his guilt seeing his dad mourning everyday.  And here comes this woman and asks “is this yours or not?”.. just like the brothers asked Jacob, is this coat Josephs’ or not? And in return I gave a goat… ouch.  And so we can never run away from our sins, until we repent (which Judah still has to do in future) and own up to his sins

Tamars' twin sons : Prophetic on Messiah

Now it happened at the time she was giving birth, that behold, there were twins in her womb.
Genesis 38:27

So Tamar gave birth to twins.  Here we have two sons again!  The 1st son pushed out his hand, and the midwife took a scarlet thread and bound it on his hand. But then the second was born!  The first son she named Zeraḥ, which means “rising one”.  The second son was called Perets – which means “the one who breaks through”!  Again – a prophetic message about the Messiah to come – that will break through and become the Older Brother, even though the first had the scarlet on his hand
