Humble Donkey
Zechariah 9:9 “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.”
The prophecy of a Messiah riding on a donkey, as told in all four gospels of Matthew 21:1-11, Mark 11:1-11, Luke 19:28-44, and John 12:12-19. “All this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: “Tell the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your King is coming to you, Lowly, and sitting on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.’ ””
A donkey and a King usually doesn’t go together in one sentence, which is a great test of heart and faith. Many pharisees and rulers were expecting a ruling King that will save them from the Romans – not a King that comes riding on a donkey. A donkey resembles humility, peace, service, patience, and divine provision, rather than war or power. However Yeshua does represent both, Peace and War/Power. John 16:33, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world”. Matthew 10:34-36, “Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword“, meaning a a spiritual divide between those who are righteous and those who are not.
30 pieces of Silver
Zechariah 11:12 “Then I said to them, “If it is agreeable to you, give me my wages; and if not, refrain.” So they weighed out for my wages thirty pieces of silver.”
In Matthew 26:14-15 we read about Judas Iscariot, one of the 12 disciples saying, “and said, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver Him to you?” And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver.” The prophecy is not directed at Judas, but rather at the shepherds, the ones who is giving the thirty pieces of silver. It is about the false shepherds, and the good Shepherd is rejected by the people and deemed worthless, with the people offering him a meager payment of thirty pieces of silver.
In verse 13 we also read, “And YHWH said to me, “Throw it to the potter”—that princely price they set on me. So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them into the house of YHWH for the potter.” This happened in Matthew 27, the return of the blood money from Judas, “But the chief priests took the silver pieces and said, “It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, because they are the price of blood.” And they consulted together and bought with them the potter’s field, to bury strangers in. Therefore that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day. Then was fulfilled what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the value of Him who was priced, whom they of the children of Israel priced, and gave them for the potter’s field, as YHWH directed me.”
The thirty pieces of silver is also a law fulfilled in a prophecy, because in ancient Judea, this amount was also the market value for a slave injured by an animal, according to Exodus 21:32, “If the ox gores a male or female servant, he shall give to their master thirty shekels of silver, and the ox shall be stoned.”
Final War & New "Day"
Zechariah 14:1-6 “Behold, the day of YHWH is coming, .. And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives.. Thus YHWH my God will come, And all the saints with You. It shall come to pass in that day that there will be no light; The lights will diminish.”
In Revelation 21:23 it says, “The city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of YHWH is its light, and the Lamb is its lamp”. Click here to see previous posts about the YHWH’s Day – where the translators called it the “Day of the Lord”.
Feast of Tabernacles / Tents / Booths
Zechariah 14:16 “And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, YHWH of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.”
The translation of “Tabernacle” is actually incorrect. The Hebrew word is Sukkot H5521 – sukâ, meaning a booth, quick temporary shelters, a thicket or shelter covering. The Hebrew word for Tabernacle, which is also just a really big tent that can move around with the people, is in Hebrew Ohel H168 – ‘ōhel, a nomad’s tent, and thus symbolic of wilderness life. This Ohel/Tabernacle/Tent is actually what is used with YHWH’s Tabernacle, as well as people’s homes/tents for example with Abraham , Genesis 18:1 “Then YHWH appeared to him by the terebinth trees of Mamre, as he was sitting in the tent H168 door in the heat of the day.”
So the correct word for the Festival or Feast, is Sukkot (Hebrew) or Booths. It is an 8 day festival, with the 1st and 8th day a High Sabbath, meaning no work is allowed. For 8 days the people just camp and have a holiday in their make-shift tents, which can literally just be a bunch of branches for covering. YHWH have in total 7 Mo’edim/Appointed Times of the Year, and Sukkot is the very last one. Sukkot symbolizes the final Festival, celebrating the forever dwelling together with YHWH. Click here to see the list of other Mo’edim/Appointed feast from Leviticus 23. But here in Zechariah, picturing the new beginnings after the Final Wars and Judgement, YHWH’s Festival still stands and everyone will celebrate it. If you are not celebrating any of YHWH’s festivals, start right now! . The Festivals begin around March/April each year and ends around October. Remember, these are not “Jewish” feasts – it is YHWH’s Feasts!
