Matthew 24:3 “the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

For many years, there have been many prophecies and predictions about the end of the world. We see movies about it, there have always been wars going on, sickness and death is everywhere, and the new age and one world order with AI have people spinning with speculations.. but we should always remember these words of Yeshua first, from verse 6 “See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass“. Verse 9 takes it further to prepare our mental state, that we might even be killed because we know and call on the name of YHWH and Yeshua, “they will kill you and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake.”

  • Deception : verse 11, from the people we think we can trust, Prophets and Teachers! Verse 24 says even the most Elect will be deceived by signs and wonders.
  • Lawlessness : verse 12, the lack of keeping the Law, causes confusing in itself. The Law teaches love and forgiveness, and without it “the love of many will grow cold”
  • Sabbath : verse 20, we see that Yeshua is speaking to those who keep the Sabbath – even in end times!

Verse 13 reminds us, we will be going through the tribulation, we might even be killed, “But he who endures to the end shall be saved.“
Verse 36 warns us, when listening to all kinds of prophecies about dates/times, “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.”

Matthew 24:40 “Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left.”

There is a great believe today that a “miracle rapture” will take place and people who believe will not have to go through the tribulation. This is one of the greatest deceptions, as it puts people in a relaxed state of mind that nothing will happen to them. Meanwhile, all scriptures show that all people, even all of Israel had to suffer together, and it is those who remain, who stand till the end, who is willing to die for their faith, that is saved. Not saved by escaping, but saved to be Resurrected. Yeshua says in Matthew 24:13, “But he who endures to the end shall be saved.“

The verses before “the two men and two women” example, says “But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be…did not know until the flood came and took them all away“. The deception today is that the Righteous will be taken away, but the verse actually says, the wicked will be taken away. This is confirmed so many times with prophetic verses from the old testament. Matthew 16:25 “For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.

Matthew 25:2 “Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish”

The number 10 could resemble the 10 lost tribes of Israel, or those considered “lost”. Even though they are outside waiting, unsure of when the Groom will arrive, the question is, are they preparing? Many want to wait and be ready, but they get distracted with the things of the world. Right back in Exodus 30 we learned about Oil, how precious it is and the many things it resembles. But the main purpose of Oil is to “set apart”, or being holy. Click here to read more from that post, and some great verses about oil.

Even though the parable uses the phrases buy and sell of oil, it doesn’t mean that we can “buy” ourselves into the Kingdom of YHWH. The whole point of the Parable is.. “being prepared”, and the “oil” is part of making yourself prepared. It is not something you can give others. We can try and help each other to prepare and be reminded to prepare, but at the end of the day, each one is responsible for himself to be prepared.

How do you become set apart? That is what the Torah is for, instructions on how to live, a test of heart and faith. See this post from Leviticus 18 on the commands on being set apart, and what it looks like. Peter also reminds us of this verse in Leviticus 19:2 (“Be set-apart, for I YHWH your Elohim am set-apart.”), where Peter says in 1 Peter 1:15-16: “but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, ‘You shall be holy, for I am holy'”.

English translations use the word “holy”, but the Hebrew word is Khadosh H6918 – qāḏôš, meaning sacred, saint, set apart, living clean, free from things that defile, prepared, dedicated, consecrated, devoted, purified.
