Open my eyes, that I might behold the marvellous beauty from Your Instructions ~ Psalm 119:18

Abrahams' Faith

Now it happened after these things, that God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.”
Genesis 22:1

Genesis 22 starts of with another big question – YHWH asks Abraham to offer his child!  Here is a very interesting take I got on this :

The Ammonites were known for offering their children to their god Molech, so you might be wondering how could YHWH require such a thing.. just to ask it?!
Well, consider this. If YHWH had not asked Abraham to do this, that the nations would’ve all looked at Israel and said, “Yeah, okay, you guys do that because it’s easy. You’ve chosen the easiest god to follow, he doesn’t really ask you to do all that much. We actually sacrifice our children to our gods.”
Abraham had to prove that he was willing to do that. But when the actual moment came, YHWH stopped him, because YHWH does not want human sacrifice! Human sacrifice is an abomination to YHWH. He says that very clearly in a number of passages.

So here is the lesson.. FAITH WITHOUT ACTIONS ARE MEANINGLESS. Scripture says… Now YHWH knows! Abraham just obeys.. no questions asked.

To Bless

and said, “By Myself I have sworn, declares Yahweh, because you have done this thing and have not spared your son, your only one, indeed I will greatly bless you, and I will greatly multiply your seed as the stars of the heavens and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your seed shall possess the gate of his enemies.
Genesis 22:16-17

Here is an absolute gem of a pearl!  — BARAK

The word bless in Hebrew is H1288 – bāraḵ.  The root meanings of this word is bless, but also to kneel, and the word knee.  And the knee is not just your legs’ knee – but the knee in a plants’ shoot to graft in.  So it has to do with GRAFTING IN.  So!  Not only is Abrahams’ seed blessed with the shoots it gives, but those from outside can be grafted in!  And this grafting in – you will see all throughout Scripture.  This is a big theme from the beginning of Genesis too, and you will see become more prominent – where YHVH commands us to be nice to the gentiles and strangers around you!  Yeshua also said – don’t think because you are part of the tree, that you cannot be removed! (John 15)  And if you are not part of the tree, that you cannot be grafted in!  HalleluYah!
