Genesis 46: 32-34  And the men are shepherds, that they have been men of livestock, and they have brought their flocks and their herds, and all that they have.’  “And it shall be, when Pharaoh calls you and says, ‘What is your occupation?’ that you shall say, ‘Your servants have been men of livestock from our youth even till now, both we and also our fathers,’ so that you dwell in the land of Goshen, for every shepherd is an abomination to the Mitsrites.”

In the previous chapter we read that the egyptians didn’t eat with Joseph and his brothers.  Now, when Pharaoh learns what they are, he will place them in their own separate part of Egypt, apart from the egyptians.  For the egyptians, the hebrews are disgusting, because the egyptians worship the lamb as a god, and the hebrews eat their lambs.  To the world, it might seem like such a meek job they have, travelling after the sheep in tents, etc.  And how amazing it is, that the Creator of Heaven and Earth sends His Son as the Shepherd, and we are the sheep.  To the world we might look like nobodies, and they might even find us disgusting.  But that is exactly how and what Yeshua taught, to be the meek and humble one.  Not great and mighty. Not like the world, the egyptians and their hundreds of gods, their gold and power.  No, these men are just humble shepherds taking care of their sheep.
