Nehemiah 1:1 “The words of Nehemiah”

Nehemiah’s name H5166 – nᵊḥemyâ, have the name Yah in (short for YHWH), and Naham H5162 – nāḥam which means to be sorry, console oneself, turn your ways around, regret, comfort, be comforted. So his name means, YHWH comforts when we return to Him.

Nehemiah was not a prophet or a priest, but he was a Jewish leader and Persian governor. There were the 4 big prophets, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Daniel. And the 12 minor prophets that include Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi. The books of Ezra and Nehemiah are considered historical narratives that focus on the post-exilic period and the rebuilding of Jerusalem and the Temple.

Nehemiah 5:1 “And there was a great outcry of the people and their wives against their Jewish brethren

For people not familiar with Torah laws, might think the laws are a burden. However the laws of Torah are really something beautiful! They are not that many, and they are not burdensome.. Yeshua said in Matthew 11:28-30, “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light”. Yes the Torah is a yoke – because a yoke is there to guide you, not hurt you. Nehemiah got upset, because people have forgotten the Torah, and part of Torah is not to cause a burden for your family – physical and spiritual. They should be a community that helps, and charging interest among your family is strictly forbidden! Some of the places in Torah that discusses this is in Exodus 22:25, Leviticus 25:36-37, and Deuteronomy 23:19-20.
