Persian Kings & Prophets - History
Ezra 6:1-3 “Then King Darius gave the order to search the library where the archives were stored in Babylon. A scroll was found.. Date: Cyrus’ first year as king”
King Darius is being told by Ezra that back when King Cyrus lived, he gave permission and orders for Jerusalem to be rebuilt! See our previous post from Esther about the history timeline between these last few prophets and the few kings since Israel and Judah were exiled, until Jerusalem was finally rebuilt and completed by Nehemiah (our next book to read). Even in Nehemiah, you will read about the king Artaxerxes, for whom Nehemiah was a cupbearer.
So we have the following prophets and leaders living in the following times since exile until their release and Jerusalem’s restore:
Ezekiel, Daniel, Haggai, Zechariah, Ezra, Nehemiah and Malachi
during the timelines of:
Nebuchadnezzar, Cyrus the Great, Darius the Great, Xerxes and Artaxerxes
