Yeshua's Prayer, Forgiveness and Cleansing

Psalm 19:12-13 “Forgive my hidden faults. Keep me from sinning. Do not let anyone gain control over me.” Another translation says, “Who sees my mistakes? Make me innocent from those that are secret. Keep your servant back from the presumptuous ones, Do not let them rule over me”

It sounds a lot like the last part of Yeshua’s Prayer in Matthew 6:9–13 / Luke 11:2-4, “Forgive us our sins, as we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. Do not lead us into trial, but rescue us from the wicked one.” Forgive me – Keep me from trials and sinning – deliver/free us from the evil one“.

Even though the word forgive and cleanse sound a lot similar in Hebrew, the actual word used in Psalm 19 is Naqa H5352 – nāqâ, meaning to cleanse, make free or clear, acquit, made empty/pure/innocent/free, purge. In order to forgive, you need to Naqa – a working verb to make clear and get rid off that which was wrong. Forgiveness in Hebrew is Nasa H5375 – nāśā‘, to lift up, bear/carry/support/endure. It makes sense, before you pick up and carry a dirty child for example, you will first cleanse him.

Yeshua's Psalm

A Psalm of the Cross, found in Matthew 27:45-56, Mark 15:33-41, Luke 23:44-49 and John 19:28-30. Psalm 22 is widely regarded as a detailed prophecy of Yeshuas’ crucifixion, including His suffering, the mockery He endured, the piercing of His hands and feet, and the division of His garments. The final verse also speaks of a future generation praising YHWH for his Salvation.

1 My Ěl, My Ěl, why have You forsaken Me?
6 But I am a worm, and no man; A reproach of men, and despised by the people.
7 All those who see Me mock Me; They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,
8 “He trusted in YHWH, let Him rescue Him; Let Him deliver Him, seeing He has delighted in Him!”
12 Many bulls have surrounded Me; Strong ones of Bashan have encircled Me.
13 They have opened their mouths against Me, As a raging and roaring lion.
14 I have been poured out like water, And all My bones have been spread apart; My heart has become like wax; It has melted in the midst of My inward parts.
15 My strength is dried like a potsherd, And My tongue is cleaving to My jaws; And to the dust of death You are appointing Me.
16 For dogs have surrounded Me; A crowd of evil ones have encircled Me, Piercing My hands and My feet;
17 I count all My bones. They look, they stare at Me.
18 They divide My garments among them, And for My raiment they cast lots.
19 But You, O YHWH, do not be far off; O My Strength, hasten to help Me!
20 Deliver My life from the sword, My only life from the power of the dog.
21 Save Me from the mouth of the lion, And from the horns of the wild beasts! You have answered Me.
22 I make known Your Name to My brothers; In the midst of the assembly I praise You.

27 Let all the ends of the earth Remember and turn to YHWH, And all clans of the nations Bow themselves before You.
28 For the reign belongs to YHWH, And He is ruling over the nations.
30 A seed shall serve Him. It is declared of YHWH to the coming generation.
31 They shall come and declare His righteousness To a people yet to be born, For He shall do it!

Messianic Psalms

Yeshua said in Luke 24:44 “And He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all have to be filled that were written in the Torah of Mosheh and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.”

This verse specifies that three groups of Old Testament texts — the law of Moses (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy), the prophets (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, etc.), and the Psalms (the book of Psalms). Yeshua Himself, and in all four gospels – Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, cited one or more passages from the Psalms, Torah (first 5 books in Scripture, i.e. laws of Moses) and the prophets. Yeshua even said in Matthew 5:18, “For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.” So all the laws and prophecies will stand until the day YHWH declares the end for this heaven and earth.

Here is the main list of Psalms verses that clearly talks about a Messiah, and the Son of YHWH:

Stay here and watch with Me.” And going forward a little, He fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not as I desire, but as You desire.”

Psalm 22:9	For You are the One who took Me out of the womb; Causing Me to trust	Luke 2:40	And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, being filled with wisdom. And the favour of Elohim was upon Him.
Psalm 22:10	I was cast upon You from birth. From My mother’s belly You have been My Ěl.	Luke 1:30-33	And the messenger said to her, “Do not be afraid, Miryam, for you have found favour with Elohim. “And see, you shall conceive in your womb, and shall give birth to a Son, and call His Name Yeshua. “He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High. And YHWH Elohim shall give Him the throne of His father David.
Psalm 22:11	distress is near; For there is none to help	Mark 14:33-49	deeply distressed… He said to them, “My being is exceedingly grieved“ Watch and pray, lest you enter into trial. The spirit indeed is eager, but the flesh is weak.” And again He went away and prayed, and spoke the same words. And having returned, He found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy. And they did not know what to answer Him.

Psalm 22:15	My strength is dried like a potsherd, And My tongue is cleaving to My jaws	John 19:28-30	After this, Yeshua, knowing that all had been accomplished, in order that the Scripture might be accomplished, said, “I thirst!” A bowl of sour wine stood there, and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and held it to His mouth. So when Yeshua took the sour wine He said, “It has been accomplished!”

Psalm 27:12	Do not give me over To the desire of my adversaries; For false witnesses have risen against me, And they breathe out cruelty to me. Psalm 31:5	Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have redeemed me, O YHWH Ěl of truth.	Luke 23:46	And crying out with a loud voice, Yeshua said, “Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit.” And having said this, He breathed His last.
Psalm 31:13	When they take counsel together against me, They plot to take away my life.	Matthew 27:1	And morning having come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Yeshua, so as to put Him to death.
Psalm 34:20	He is guarding all his bones; Not one of them is broken.	John 19:32-33	but when they came to Yeshua and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs.
Psalm 38:13-14	And as a dumb one who does not open his mouth. I am like a man who does not hear, And who has no rebukes in his mouth.	Matthew 26:62-63	And the high priest stood up and said to Him, “Have You no answer to make? What do these witness against You?” But Yeshua remained silent.

And having unrolled the scroll, He found the place where it was written: “The Spirit of YHWH is upon Me,a because He has anointed Me to bring the Good News to the poor. He has sent Me to heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send away crushed ones with a release, to proclaim the acceptable year of YHWH.” And having rolled up the scroll, He gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all in the congregation were fixed upon Him.
Psalm 41:9	Even my own friend in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me.	Mark 14:17-18	And as they sat and ate, Yeshua said, “Truly, I say to you, one of you who is eating with Me shall deliver Me up.”
Psalm 80:5	You have caused them to eat the bread of tears, And have caused them to drink With tears	Matthew 26:26-28	And as they were eating, Yeshua took bread, and having blessed, broke and gave it to the taught ones and said, “Take, eat, this is My body.” And taking the cup, and giving thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. “For this is My blood, that of the renewed covenant, which is shed for many for the forgiveness of sins.
Psalm 80:17	Let Your hand be upon the One at Your right hand, Upon the Son of Aḏam whom You made strong for Yourself	Acts 5:30-31	“The Elohim of our fathers raised up Yeshua whom you laid hands on, hanging Him on a timber. “Him, a Prince and a Saviour, Elohim has exalted to His right hand, to give repentance to Yisra’ĕl and forgiveness of sins.

Psalm 89:26-27	He calls out to Me, ‘You are my Father.. Psalm 110:4	YHWH has sworn and does not relent, “You are a priest forever According to the order of Malkitseḏeq.”	Hebrews 4:14	Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Yeshua the Son of YHWH, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.
Psalm 118:22	The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief corner-stone.	Matthew 21:42-43	Yeshua said to them, “Did you never read in the Scriptures, ‘The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief corner-stone. This was from YHWH, and it is marvellous in our eyes’? “Because of this I say to you: the reign of Elohim shall be taken from you and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits of it.
