Psalm 91:11 “He will put his angels in charge of you to protect you in all your ways

The hebrew word for Angel is Malak H4397 – mal’āḵ, meaning a messenger. We touched on this word back in Genesis 16 (click here to read more) where the first time an angel is mentioned is with Hagar that ran away from Sarah, and the Angel appeared to Hagar with a message. We also see the angels appearing to Abraham a couple of times, and when they are sent to Sodom and Gomorrah to destroy it. Angels are mentioned over 200 times in the old testament, and 185 times in the new testament. The greek word for angel is Angelos G32 – angelos. In the new testament angels appear to Jospeh, Mary (actually her Hebrew name is Miriam) and at Yeshua’s birth.

But this Psalm 91, which is one of the most famous Psalms to men, which focuses on the themes of YHWH’s protection, refuge, and faithfulness. But this is the exact Psalm that ha-satan, the devil also know! He quoted this exact Psalm to Yeshua in the desert, Matthew 4:6 “And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of Elohim, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.” And after the temptation, in verse 11 it says, “Then the devil left him, and, behold, angels G32 came and ministered unto him.”

Yeshua said in one of His parables in Matthew 13:39 and 41, “the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. G32″, “The Son of man shall send forth his angels, G32 and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;”. In Matthew 24:31 “And he shall send his angels G32 with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”

Number of Angels
We read in Revelation 5:11 “And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands“, which equate to over 100’s of millions of angels that was just seen in this vision. Apart just from these angels, there are also the Cherubim, the Seraphim and the Archangels, and perhaps even more that we don’t know of.

Cherubim are often depicted with four faces (human, lion, ox, and eagle) and four wings (Genesis 3:24, 1 Kings 6:27, Ezekiel 1:4-28 and 10:1-22), while seraphim have six wings, and are associated with fire and purification (Isaiah 6:2-7). Cherubim are known for guarding sacred spaces, while Seraphim are associated with praising Elohim. Then there are also the seven Archangels, however the term Archangels only appears in new testament, coming from the word chief, principal, or high-ranking. It indicates that an archangel is a leader or ruler among angels, holding a position of authority and importance. The term comes from the Greek word “archangelos,” which combines “arch” (chief) and “angelos” (messenger), highlighting their role as both leaders and messengers of Elohim. In the Septuagint (Greek version of the Hebrew Bible), they are know as the “great angels”.

In the Book of Tobit Raphael reveals himself, declaring: “I am Raphael, one of the seven angels who stand in the glorious presence of the Lord, ready to serve him.” (Tobit 12,15) The other two angels mentioned by name in the canonized Scriptures are the archangel Michael and the angel Gabriel. Uriel is named in 2 Esdras (4:1 and 5:20), and the other archangels are named in the book of Enoch, both books that are regarded as canonical by some churches.

Zechariah 4:10 tells about “seven rejoices” that are “the eyes of YHWH, Which scan to and from throughout the whole earth.” Revelation 8:2 mentions seven angels who “stand before Elohim, and to them were given seven trumpets.” Similarly, Revelation 16:1 indicates: “and I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels: Go and pour out the seven bowls of the wrath of God into the earth.”

  • Micha’El: A prominent archangel often depicted as a warrior angel leading YHWH’s armies, mentioned in the Bible and the Book of Enoch. Meaning “Who is like ELohim?” or “Who is equal to ELohim?”.
  • Gabri’El: Also mentioned in the Bible and the Book of Enoch, known for delivering divine messages like with Yeshua’s birth. Meaning “ELohim is my strength” or “Might of ELohim”.
  • Rapha’El: Mentioned in the Book of Tobit and the Book of Enoch. Meaning “ELohim heals“.
  • Uriel: Found in the Book of Enoch and other apocryphal texts. Meaning “ELohim is my light” or “Light of ELohim”.
  • Ragu’El: Appears in the Book of Enoch. Meaning “Friend of ELohim” or “ELohim is my friend”
  • Remi’El: Also mentioned in the Book of Enoch. Meaning “Mercy of ELohim” or “Compassion of ELohim”
  • Sari’El/Saraqa’El: A name found in various versions of the Book of Enoch. Meaning “ELohim is my Ruler,” “ELohim’s Command,” and “Beloved by ELohim”.

Psalm 92:! “A Psalm; A Song; for the Sabbath“. Some translations say.. “for the day of worship“. Here is another translation, “[[A Psalm or Song for the sabbath day.]] It is a good thing to give thanks unto YHWH, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High!”

The actual Hebrew word Sabat H7676 – šabāṯ is written there, and Sabat meaning the 7th day to Rest, as is written in Genesis 2:2 “And on the seventh day Elohim ended his work which he had made; and He rested H7673 on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.” In Exodus 16:30 we read the Israelites keeping the Sabath, “So the people rested on the seventh day.”

There is not just the 7th Day Sabbath, but several Sabbaths to keep:

  • The Sabbath Commands
The 7th Day – Exodus 20:8 “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.”
  • The 7th High Sabbath in a Year – Leviticus 23: 2 Days during Feast of Unleavened Bread, 1 Day with Shavuot, 1 Day with Feast of Trumpets, 1 Day with Day of Atonement, 2 Days with Feast of Tabernacles.
  • The 7th Year – Leviticus 25 and Deuteronomy 15, called the Yubilee Year or Sabbath Year.

Did you know just like ha-satan marks those that serve him, so YHWH first said in the old testament, that He also marks His Children? Exodus 31:13 “Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am YHWH that sanctify you.”

In Leviticus 23′ post, we talked about the Sabbath and explained the 7 appointed calendar events (and their High Sabbaths) instructed by YHWH – click here to read more.
