Famine
2 Samuel 21:1 “Now there was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year; and David inquired of YHWH”
Famine from the Hebrew word RAAB H7458 – rāʿāḇ, meaning hunger, extremely hungry, scarcity or lack. Famine is a recurring theme in Scriptures, since as early as Abraham. Joseph was warned to prepare for famine, and Ruth and Naomi had to move to Bethlehem because of famine. Famine is part of the prophecies of end times also.
Famine can be for punishment, or a test of faith. The Israelites had to trust YHWH for food and water for 40 years. Yeshua quoted Deuteronomy 8:3, stating, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from God.” And this is meant literally, that is why fasting is a good practice. Training and reminding your body to give up the fleshly needs and pleasures, and remind our beings of what comes first.
Amos 8:11, “Behold, the days come, saith YHWH Elohim, that I will send a famine H7458 in the land, not a famine H7458 of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD“
