2 Samuel 13:1 “Absalom H53 the son of David”. H53 – ‘ăbyšālôm, or AB-SHALOM, meaning Father (Ab or Abba) of Peace (Shalom). Although Shalom H7965 – šālôm also means welfare, safety, health, completeness.

It is rather ironic that Absalom didn’t live in peace, especially with his father David. David on the other hand, had great love for his son, and never went against him. Instead David gave way and fled Jerusalem in fear, so that Absalom could take over. Even till the end, David instructed that no one should hurt Absalom, 2 Samuel 18:4, “Deal gently for my sake with the young man Absalom.”

David wrote Psalm 3 about when he fled from Absalom, “But thou, O YHWH, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.”

2 Sam 15:23 And all the country wept with a loud voice, and all the people crossed over. The king himself also crossed over the Brook Kidron, and all the people crossed over toward the way of the wilderness.

2 Sam 18:18 Now Absalom in his lifetime had taken and set up a pillar for himself, which is in the King’s Valley. For he said, “I have no son to keep my name in remembrance.” He called the pillar after his own name. And to this day it is called Absalom’s Monument.

Kidron H6939 – qiḏrôn, means “dark“, black, mourn, growing dark, mourn heavy. This valley is the same valley of Genesis 14:17 where the battle of the Kings occurred, where Abraham rescued Lot and met with King Melchizedek of Salem (also known as Jerusalem). It was known as the valley of the Kings.

The valley falls between the walls of Jerusalem (the shut East Gate) and the Mount of Olives where the Garden of Getsemane is. Yeshua would have regularly passed through this valley to go to Bethany, where Lazarus, Mary and Martha stayed. Yeshua also had to ride on the donkey through the King’s valley from the Mount of Olives (Luke 19:28-44).

I’ve included a video link that explains this valley with some beautiful photos. And this prophecy in Jeremiah 31:38-40, “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, that the city shall be built for the Lord from the Tower of Hananel to the Corner Gate. The surveyor’s line shall again extend straight forward over the hill Gareb; then it shall turn toward Goath. And the whole valley of the dead bodies and of the ashes, and all the fields as far as the Brook Kidron, to the corner of the Horse Gate toward the east, shall be holy to YHWH. It shall not be plucked up or thrown down any more”
