Chronicles
The Hebrew name for the Book of Chronicles is Divrei Hayamim, which translates to “words of the days” or “events of the days“. In the Hebrew Bible, it is a single book, but it is divided into two books (1 & 2 Chronicles) – and it gives a parallel account of the books Samuel and Kings. The Words/Events/Accounts/Genealogies were recorded while Israel and Judah were taken captive to Babylon and Assyria.
1 Chronicles 1-2 begins with the Genealogies since Creation, covering Genesis 5:1-32, 10:1-32, 11:10-26, 25:1-4,12-16, 35:16-26, 36:1-43
Genealogies
1 Chronicles 1:29 “These are their genealogies:..”
Genealogies in the Bible are important because they: record historical succession, demonstrate YHWH’s attention to detail, and validate Yeshua’s lineage as the Messiah – proving the Prophecies. The first 9 Chapters of Chronicles covers the genealogy from Adam – Noah – Abraham – Israel – Judah – Boaz – David.
The Hebrew word for Genealogy is Toldot H8435 – tôlḏôṯ, meaning also descendants, results, proceedings, generations, an account of. As a matter of fact, the first time this word is used is in Genesis 2, right after the Account of the Creation, Genesis 2:4 “These are the generations H8435 of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that YHWH Elohim made the earth and the heavens”
