Decorated trees - christmas
Jeremiah 10:2-4 “.. For the customs of the peoples are futile; For one cuts a tree from the forest, The work of the hands of the workman, with the ax. They decorate it with silver and gold; They fasten it with nails and hammers So that it will not topple.”
Just like yesterday’s post, about Mary being the queen of heaven, and we are told that it is something new in the last one to two thousand years.. in the same way we are told that christmas is a new celebration since around 340 AD.. the same time the queen of heaven was introduced, and Sabbath moved to Sunday. But Jeremiah who lived at least 500 years before Yeshua, was prophesying about the people and their customs/traditions to cut of trees and decorate them in their houses. The prophecies says, “the customs are futile“.
It is amazing that people would spend months, and lots of money in preparing for their own customs and feasts that they believe in, but not spend one minute or thought on the Appointed Times, the customs and feasts that YHWH said should be held forever. YHWH’s answer.. they are wasting their time, it is futile, in vain.

Linen Belt
Jeremiah 13:1 “YHWH said to me: “Go and get yourself a linen sash, and put it around your waist“
Linen is a symbol of purity and was used for priestly garments, indicating a close relationship with YHWH, and it represents the clothing for the people found righteous after Judgement. The belt was to be worn “upon thy loins,” or near the seat of affection, symbolizing the close bond with YHWH. However, the people’s stubborn pride and their turning to other gods to serve and worship them directly led to their ruin, just as the hidden belt was ruined. They became “useless” as a result of their unfaithfulness.
The Hebrew word for linen is Peset H6593 – pēšeṯ, and the related word Piste, also made from plant material is used for the wick of a lamp. Click here for a previous post on Linen and the beauty of it, known as the “healing fabric”.
