Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of Elohim came to present themselves before YHWH, and Satan came also among them.

Again later in Job 38:6-7  “Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of Elohim shouted for joy?”.  In the beginning of Genesis we encountered the sons of Elohim also, Genesis 6:1-2 “And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, That the sons of Elohim saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.”

Some manuscripts of the Septuagint (Greek translations) translated “sons of God” as “angels“. It is the fallen angels in Genesis 6 that mingled with women on earth to create the giants, or as some other religions depict them as “ancient heroes” like Goliath, and even in Greek myths like Hercules, etc.

Israel, son of Elohim

Exodus 4:22 “Thus saith YHWH, Israel is my son, even my firstborn“. In the old testament, Israel and those who would keep the covenant of YHWH are called “sons of Elohim”. Israel is even called the firstborn, that is first sons on earth / born in flesh (man).

Yeshua, only begotten Son of Elohim

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John 3:16 For Elohim so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

The words “only begotten” in Greek is G3439 – monogenēs (μονογενής). Mono meaning one or single, and Genes meaning “born”, “of a certain race,” or “of a kind”, “unique”. Thus Yeshua was unique, and the only Son sent from Heaven to be born (begotten) of man/flesh. YHWH has many sons and daughters, but Yeshua was the first and only One, to be born from heaven on earth.

Matthew 3:16-17 “And having been immersed, Yeshua went up immediately from the water, and see, the heavens were opened, and He saw the Spirit of Elohim descending like a dove and coming upon Him,  and see, a voice out of the heavens, saying, “This is My Son, the Beloved, in whom I did delight.”

Brothers and Sisters

Yeshua replied in Matthew 12:50 “For whoever does the commands of My Father who is in the heavens is My brother and sister and mother.”

Job 3:8 Let those curse it who curse the day, who are ready to stir up Liwiathan.

Other translations say, “Let them curse it that curse the day, who are ready to raise up their mourning.”

Most translations leave out the word Leviathon and use “mourning” instead. The word in Hebrew is Leviathan H3882 – livyāṯān, meaning sea monster, dragon. Why would they take out the dragon Leviathons’ name and use “mourning” instead? Leviathan is referenced only 5 times in Scripture, twice in Job, twice in Psalms and once by Isaiah.

  • Job 41:1 Canst thou draw out leviathan H3882 with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?
  • Psalm 74:14 Thou brakest the heads of leviathan H3882 in pieces, and gavest him to be meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness.
  • Psalm 104:26 There go the ships: there is that leviathan, H3882 whom thou hast made to play therein.
  • Isaiah 27:1 In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan H3882 the piercing serpent, even leviathan H3882 that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.

In Job 41 an entire chapter is dedicated on talking about Leviathan, how he looks and what he does.  In Job 41:33-34 it says, “it was made fearless.  It looks down on all high things.  It is king of everyone who is arrogant“…

The sea beast and dragon in Revelation 12 and 13 (verse 1, “And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea”), share the characteristics with the Leviathan of the old testament, such as its size, power, and connection to the sea. Satan (or hasatan), which just means “enemy” in Hebrew, known as Lucifer in Latin, but in Hebrew his name is Heylel. (More was said about this topic in Genesis 27-29 – click here to read more)
