Bread of Life

John 6:27 “Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because the Elohim the Father has set His seal on Him.”

Here in John 6, Yeshua actually lost a lot of followers, verse 66, “From then on many of His taught ones withdrew and were not walking with Him any more.”. These words of eating flesh and drinking blood was too hard to understand. Verse 53, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Aḏam and drink His blood, you possess no life in yourselves”.

Yeshua is speaking so much in the spirit, that it seems very strange for people what He is saying. Back in John 4:23-24 Yeshua said, “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. Elohim is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth”. But in verse 52, “The Jews therefore quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?””. Speaking in the spirit is a great way to test those around you. Are they living in the flesh, or focussed on the spiritual things. This verse in John 6:27 starts with.. do not labor for food that perishes, but food which endures to everlasting life. When we are toiling throught the day, what are we focussed on? What are we seeking? What are our thoughts chewing on..?

The greek word for bread is Artos G740 – artos. The root of this word is Airo G142 – airō, which means to be lifted up. This lifting up is in the way you would draw fish out of the water, or lift your hands up to the sky. This would be how bread would raise when it is baked. The word artos, Bread, is used many times by Yeshua. We first see it in temptation in the desert, where the devil says Yeshua should turn stones into bread, and He replies in Matthew 4:4, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ . In Matthew 6:11 with Yeshua’s prayer, He says we should ask for our daily bread. In Matthew 7:9 Yeshua says the Father would not give us stones if we ask Him for bread. He fed the crowds with bread and fish on multiple occasions. The Hebrew word for bread is Lehem H3899 – leḥem. Did you know YHWH the Father first mentioned bread to Adam, when they were expelled out of the garden? Genesis 3:19, “In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread (h3899 lehem) Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.” In this verse, YHWH is speaking about bread to live.
