Lambs among wolves
Luke 10:3 “Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves.”
Back in Isaiah 11 we made a post on different Scriptures about Wolves (click here to read more). Did you know it says in Isaiah wolves will dwell with the lambs? But Yeshua does warn about the false prophets being like wolves. In Matthew 7 He calls them ravenous wolves, or another way of describing the greek word used “harpax G727” is a robber, an extortioner. Back in Deuteronomy 13 it explains how to identify false prophets – and we still have many of those today! Just have a look how many people are proclaiming the dates when the rapture will be! And then afterwards they just shrug their shoulders with a smile, and continue preaching. But Scripture calls them false prophets – and they are busy robbing people!! (Click here to read the post from Deut 13).
While back in Ezekiel 34’s post we explained what is so special about Sheep (click here to read more). Here Yeshua takes it even further, saying He sends them out like little innocent lambs! And all they can do – is just be aware of the wolves. Know who you are.. a little lamb, dependent on your Shepherd.. surrounded by wolves. You cannot attack a wolve, or even change him with your words. All you can do is recognize them, and stay clear from them.
The good Samaritan
Luke 10:33 “But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion.”
We have made several posts on Samaria, as Samaria is actually very special. Most people only know Jerusalem and the Jews. However there was a silent head-butting going on, as Samaria is actually Jerusalem’s brother. Click here to read some of the previous posts on Samaria.
Even though the Jews looked down on the Samaritans, and the Samaritans clearly felt left out, it is interesting the Parable about the Good Samaritan. When Yeshua asked them, so who is their neighbor in the story, they didn’t reply saying “the Samaritan”, but rather “the one who was kind enough to help“. Verse 36-37, “So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?”. And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Yeshua said to him, “Go and do likewise.”
Yeshua was trying to show them their hearts.. have mercy on the Samaritans whom they despise.
