Proverbs 7:27 “Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.”

The hebrew word for harlot is Zana H2181 – zānâ, and the greek word is porn G4204 – pornē. The word has a lot to do with adultery and fornication. It has to do with relations between two people who are not married – in other words, there are no commitments, or breaking of commitments. It points to ethical value issues, especially where a commitment has already been made to another, but this person has relations with someone else.

This relations, especially in the Scripture context, is not necessarily sexual – but mostly points to breaking the commitment made to YHWH! That is why Babylon is referred to the Great Harlot in Revelation 17, because “Babylon” represents anything in the world that entices you to short-sighted physical pleasures, that in the end causes you to not walk purely in the Torah/Instructions as given by YHWH, for moral and physical clean living.

Even though being a harlot (man or woman), doesn’t mean you as a person are rejected by YHWH, as only YHWH can judge those actions. Even Yeshua told the pharisees and saduccees in Matthew 21:32 “For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots G4204 believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him”, and verse 31, “Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots G4204 go into the kingdom of Elohim before you.”

And even though Solomon’s words seem very harsh on harlots, “her house is the way to hell”, Solomon had to deal with two harlots fighting over a baby in 1 Kings 3:16-28. He never scolded them over being harlots, but rather pointing out their motives with the child. When you read Proverbs 7, it is clear that Solomon is addressing a deeper issue (a Parable) than just physical fornication. Verses like, “Guard my commands and live, And my Torah as the apple of your eye… To guard you against the strange woman, Against the foreigner who flatters with her words… she looks for gullible people.. having ulterior motives she draws him in.. flatters with colors and smells to entice the senses.. seductive charms.. He does not realize that it will cost him his life!“

YHWH sees going after other gods, doing their rituals and physical pleasures that leads to death as whoring, and that is what harlots represent – the spiritual walk to death. Exodus 34:15 “Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring H2181 after their gods”

Revelation 17:5 “And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS G4204 AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.”
