Rock and Stone
Psalm 144:1 Blessed be YHWH my strength! Some translations say “Strength”, other translations may use “YHWH my Rock!”
The Hebrew word here is Tsur H6697 – ṣûr – meaning a Rock, Cliff, block of stone, boulder. Back in Deuteronomy 32 (click here to read more) we looked at a beautiful passage and explanation of Rock, as well as Yeshua – Salvation, the Rock of our Salvation. The root word for Sur H6696 – ṣûr also means to besiege, bind, confine, secure!
Rock in Greek in Petra G4073 – petra, the root name for Peter, and the famous quote of Yeshua in Matthew 16:18 “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Yeshua also taught that all those who DOES His Teachings (Logos – Moral Laws of YHWH) will be building his life on The Rock, Matthew 7:24 “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: G4073” – but those who do not, will be rejected Matthew 7:23 “I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity/lawlessness“.
The Rock represents a stronghold, permanence, protection, faithfulness, shade, shelter, safety, used for construction. Even YHWH’s Laws were written on the Rock, as written in Exodus 24:12 “And YHWH said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone H68, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them.” The Hebrew word for stone is Eben H68 – ‘eḇen. And this stone, which repesents Yeshua was prophesied by David in Psalm 118:22 “The stone H68 which the builders refused is become the head stone H68 of the corner.” This stone/laws being rejected was quoted and fulfilled by Yeshua in Mark 12:10 “And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner”.
Deuteronomy 32:15 “and they treated the Rock of their Salvation like a fool!“
Psalm 62:2 “He only is my rock H6697 and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.”

YHWH can Hear, Speak, Do
In Psalm 115/135 (click here to read more) it spoke about other gods that cannot speak, see or do anything. And those who worship those gods, and make idols (which also cannot see or hear or do) – the people become like those gods and idols – the people are blind and deaf to the truth. In today’s post between Psalms 140 and 145 it stands out how the Psalmists talk about a Living Elohim, that listens, hearkens, pay attention, answers and responds, even smells, rescues, teach, lead and guide, march towards, touch, strikes, scatters, uphold, raise up, opens things and provides to more than what is needed!

145:14 The YHWH uphold H5564 all that fall, and raise H2210 up all those that be bowed down.

יהוה shows favour and is compassionate, Patient and great in kindness.

יהוה is supporting all who are falling, And raising up all who are bowed down.
The eyes of all look to You expectantly, And You are giving them their food in its season,
Opening Your hand and satisfying The desire of all that live.
יהוה is righteous in all His ways, And kind in all His works.
יהוה is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth.
He does the desire of those who fear Him; And He hears their cry and saves them.
