HalleluYah
Yesterday’s Psalm 105:45 ended with “Praise ye YHWH!”. Psalm 106:1 starts with “Praise ye YHWH!” AND ends again with “Praise ye YHWH!”
ACTUALLY – The Hebrew word that ends and starts these Psalms are HalleluYah – Halal YHWH! HalaluYah! We have covered this word way back in Exodus 15:2 (click here to read more) already, “Yah is my strength and song… and I praise Yah (halaluYah)“.
The word Halal H1984 – hālal, doesn’t just mean praise, but to boast! To shine, give glory, celebrate, to almost act like a madman or fool! This reminds one of when David where he danced before YHWH, that some felt embarrassed about his “foolishness”.. in 2 Samuel 6:14-23, “And David danced before YHWH with all his might; … And David said unto Michal, It was before YHWH, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of YHWH, over Israel: therefore will I play/rejoice/worship before YHWH!”
Salvation - Yeshua
106:4 “Remember me, O YHWH .. O visit me with thy salvation“
The Hebrew word for Salvation is Yeshua H3444 – yᵊšûʿâ, also meaning Saviour, Deliverance, Help and Victory! How beautiful to think this Psalmist is saying, “visit me Yeshua!”
Prayer - Judgement
Psalm 106:30 “Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: H6419 and so the plague was restrained.” Some translations just say Phinehas stood up, and some translations say he “intervened” or prayed. The Hebrew word there is Palal H6419 – pālal, which means to pray, intercede, request or to make a judgement call. The name PelalYah (H6421 – pᵊlalyâ) means “Yehovah has judged“.
When we pray, it is a means to call for judgement. We interced or request, for YHWH to intervene and judge. Yeshua taught that we are never to judge each other, but we can bring our burdens and prayers to YHWH. Matthew 7:1-3 “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?” Instead in the previous chapter, Yeshua teaches us how to pray, Matthew 6:12 “And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.” We have not been given any authority to judge, but we have been taught to forgive and pray. When we pray, we do not judge, but we leave the judgement at YHWH’s Feet – so that He will help us. David’s Psalms are mostly prayers, about all the people that was making war against him – those prayers were left at Fathers’ Feet, so that HE could deal with those people and that He gives judgement on them.
Psa 32:6 “For this shall H6419 every one that is godly pray H6419 unto thee in a time when thou may be found” Pray! WHILE HE MAY BE FOUND! Before the Final Judgement day.
Thankful / Gratitude
Psalm 106 and 107 – See how many times in these two Psalms it is said “Give Thanks!”
- Psalm 106:1 Praise ye YHWH. O give thanks H3034 unto YHWH; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
- Psalm 106:47 Save us, O YHWH our Elohim, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks H3034 unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise.
- Psalm 107:1 O give thanks H3034 unto YHWH, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
- Psalm 107:8 Oh that H3034 men would praise H3034 YHWH for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
- Psalm 107:15 Oh that H3034 men would praise H3034 YHWH for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
- Psalm 107:21 Oh that H3034 men would praise H3034 YHWH for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
- Psalm 107:31 Oh that H3034 men would praise H3034 YHWH for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
The Hebrew word here is Yada H3034 – yāḏâ, meaning to praise, give thanks, thanksgiving, thankful, but also to confess and be truthful. It also means to cast, shoot or throw, praise, like throwing your hands in the air, where actually the root word Yad H3027 – yāḏ means hands, or power or consecrated, or a sign. The other word that is closely related to shoot or throw is Yara H3384 – yārâ, which also means to Teach! This word is closely related to Torah as well as the root of the word Jerusalem, Yara-Shalom.
So all these words are so closely connected, Give Thanks – Confess and be truthful, Teach others the same!
To be thankful means to have an attitude of humbleness. When you forget to be thankful, you become the opposite, arrogant, complaining, unthankful & demanding.
When things go wrong and tough in your life, and it hard to smile or even get up in the mornings – there is ONE SURE WAY to turn things around. It is focusing on gratitude. Being thankful to YHWH refocuses our eyes on Him, instead of thinking of ourselves and our wants. It reminds us that we are not in control, but that we can trust our Father for all things to work out. It teaches us to recognize how much we truly have, and to be thankful for! Having a thankful heart immediately removes complaining and negativity. And the forces of darkness cannot stand when our body, soul and spirit is thankful no matter what the circumstance and still worshiping our Creator!
In Numbers 11 (click here to read more) we learned about some of the Israelites, who were actually called the “Complaining Mob“. These complainers that tested YHWH’s patience are mentions all throughout Scripture as a reminder for people not to complain! This mob died a horrible death, and the place they were buried was called Kibroth-hattaavah, which means the “graves of the ones that were longing/lusting”.
Back in Leviticus 3 we learned that one of the offerings that Israel was taught, was the fellowship offering, also called the Peace or Thanks Offering. The offerings basically covered special events and 7 appointed times (from Passover to the Festival of Tabernacles), and also to teach Israel to ask forgiveness and take responsibility for their sins.
